23 December 2007 - Christmas Hoon Run Meeting up at Maccas Burnie were Brad & Deb (XU1), Steve & family (XU1), Eagle & Eagle jr (LX SLR5000), Rob & family (LX SLR5000), Les & Halee (Ford - yes the Torana is again off the road!!!). Beauy & Luke (LC 308) headed to Devonport where we met up with Rick (SS hatch) . We met Keli with the family @ Latrobe in the family car to pick up our new calendars before heading back to Eagle's place in Penguin where we enjoyed a great BBQ. (Click on the pics to enlarge)
2 December 2007 - Shannons Charity Run - Campbell Town Departing from Penguin was Bowey with his 308 LC, Kainey with his 3 Toranas (SLR5000 x 2 & L34) and Brad & Deb (XU1) & headed to Devonport where we met up with Rick (SS hatch) & David (SS hatch). Good to have a great mix off cars and we then headed off to Launceston. Along the way Keli in her LH and hubby in the turbo HR joined us at Westbury to head to the Inveresk railway yards where we met Roger (XU1) and the rest of the gang. During a short break for coffee, Kainey and Bowey saw the size off the humongous breakfast that was being served so they decided they need to put the nose bag on. Anyway we all headed off to Campbell Town after they had their fill where we all had an enjoyable day. On the way home we stopped at Deloraine to have a look at Craig's new SLR project which was very neat. After Kainey doing some wheeling and dealing we set off to ETC bakery at Elizabeth Town for a snack (Eagle comment - RIP the pub), we then headed home. (Click on the pics to enlarge)
14 October 2007 - Shannons Car Expo Hobart The NW crew of Andrew & Yvonne, Les & Haylee, Beauy, Luke & Eagle met up @ Brad & Deb's in Penguin on the morning of the 13th. The real exciting thing was that Brad had a selection of our new merchandise which everyone thought was great so there were some fights over who brought what. After that was sorted out, everyone except Eagle headed off south and were met by Rob at Deloraine & Keli at Perth just to say g'day. The expo was a good day and what was really great is that we picked up 8 registrations (mainly from the south) with a few others intending to register which was fantastic. Thanks to Tim for drumming up business for us as it's greatly appreciated (Brad was wondering about your persuasive powers!!!). If anyone who attended wants to send us a report, including the duck, it would be greatly appreciated.
8 September 2007- AC Delco Dragway A day organised by the gang on the Forum site which was well attended. If anyone wants to do a report on the day (Les, Brad or Tim), please let me know. 5 August 2007- Smithton Run The crew met up at the Burnie Maccas carpark before heading off to Circular Head. Attendees - Brad & Deb (XU1), Eagle, Eagle Jr & mate (LX SLR5000), Steve & Beauy (LX SLR5000), Les & Haylee (LJ sedan), Dave & Marleen (LJ sedan), David & mate (SS), PJ & Kellie (SS), Ron & Heather (LH SLR5000), Steve & Sharon (LJ XU1) + Kurt & friend in his Commodore. Unfortunately Eagle had to take the SLR back to the shed as the gearbox extension housing seal decided to let go & was pissing oil out at a fast rate. The crew met up with Andrew & Yvonne (LX sedan) & Dale (XU1) at the Stanley turn off and everyone went into Stanley where some photos were taken. Then it was off to Andrew & Yvonne's home for a BBQ which as Borak would say was "very nice, very nice"! After putting the SLR in the shed, Eagle eventually arrived in the V8 Adventura but was a bit late to take up the cooking duties as was originally arranged! Thanks go to Andrew & Yvonne for their hospitality, greatly appreciated! We met at Devonport Maccas & attendees were Brad & Deb (XU1), Kainey & family (SLR5000), Eagle (LX SLR5000), Andrew (LH sedan) & Yvonne (LX sedan) & Les tagged along with Eagle to get some video. The A9X crew of Ken & Leanne Tatto & Glen Donnellen left their beasts at home as they thought the weather was a bit suss. Chas and his wife Robin welcomed us to their home and we had a close up look at Chas's fantastic car, bike & memorabilia collection. A big thanks to Chas and Robin for allowing us to visit, it was greatly appreciated. (Click on the pics to enlarge) 29 April - Symmons Plains - Power From The Past It was an early start for us in the NW as we met at Penguin at 6.30am. A few hadn't met before so some introductions were made - Kainey met Steve and said, "I've met you somewhere before haven't I?" Steve's reply was, "yes, I pulled you up in Upper Burnie after doing a burn out". We thought that was pretty funny and Kainey didn't quite know where to look!!!! So it was off to meet up with the Northern crew at the Perth Roadhouse whilst picking up a few at the Wattle Hill servo & Deloraine. Although the rain slowed us a bit the trip down wasn't too bad and it was great to see a car park full of Torana's at Perth. Everyone was checking out the cars and Quinney got a bit excited when he saw a very neat white LJ and decided to open the door for a look inside but attracted a lot of attention when the alarm went off. Where was a good cop when you need one to stop these car burglars!!!!! There was excellent turn up for such a shocker of a day with about 28 cars. The weather was kind at Symmons as the only rain was a short shower after the lunch break. We got to do about 4 parade laps of the track and it was great to see all the old race Toranas in action too. Garth Wigston & Gene Cook drove Rob Walters & Eagle's cars around on two parade laps of the past champions and Greg Crick jumped in with Gene Cook on the second lap after the lunch break. It was also good to meet up with Wayne Quinne, President of the A9X Car Club + a few of the other A9X members, Leigh, Glen, Ken & co. Pity the weather was dodgy as it would've been great to see their cars there as well. Overall it was a very enjoyable day and there's a whisper that due to an excellent crowd and participation of all the car clubs that this may become an annual event. Here's hoping! (Click on the pics to enlarge) April - Targa Tasmania Some pics of the Toranas entered in Targa - (Click on the pics to enlarge) 25 March - Town & Country Run An excellent day starting from Maccas Burnie @ 9.30am (that's with the clock adjusted for the end of daylight savings Brad!) & travel through Stowport, Heybridge, Cuprona, South Riana, Gunns Plains, Ulverstone, Forth, Sheffield, Paradise, Mole Creek & lunch @ Deloraine. Attendees - Brad & Deb (XU1), Kainey & family (SLR5000), Rui (SS) & his son (308? ute), JR & family (UC 308?), Eagle (LX SLR5000), Roger & Judith (XU1) & Bart & Mrs (LX SLR5000) + Les tagged along with Eagle to get some video. Things were fairly tame heading down to Deloraine but the country roads were great. Brad saw & big snake on the road & I saw it too but it had moved to the side of the road but it was HUGE! I actually thought it was a piece of tyre at first. Kainey got a wasp in the car and there were some frantic attempts to get rid of it & shortly after I had the same problem! Heading into Mole Creek we hooked up with Bart but just before his house there's a very nice big straight and we were giving the beasts a bit of stick. But when Kainey saw Bart's car on the side of the road he jammed on the brakes as he thought it was for sale, so I nearly needed to pull the shute!!!! Nice lunch at Deloraine with the cars attracting a lot of attention. The trip home on the highway was interesting. Les was with me and he was videoing & said can you get up along side Kainey so he could film. Knowing Kainey I said to Les, "if he sees me coming, he'll stick the boot down" as I was a car behind. So just out of Elizabeth Town on the overtaking lanes it was on! As anticipated Kainey saw me coming and give it heaps. Les was in his element and got it on film, a lot of fun! Unfortunately Les's battery died so nothing else was recorded which was unfortunate. Nice hot day, got a lot of looks & people stopping to take pics. The highlight for me was the meeting of the twins or should that be DOUBLE TROUBLE!!!! Oh & Kainey (red SLR) broke a diff dragging Christian (who lost 1st gear) off at the lights. Only Kainey's 6th banjo since he's had it - which isn't that long really!!!) (Click on the pics to enlarge) 3 February - Outlaw Bike & Car Expo, East Devonport Only a small number turned up for the Expo which was held on a fine & hot day. Attendees - Brad & Deb (XU1), Dwayne (LH SLR5000), Keith (LX 4 door), Ken & Leanne (SS), Eagle & Eagle jr (LX SLR5000). Harvey (XU1) met us in the Penguin Main St., but was unable to go to the Expo. Great to meet a couple of new Torana owners, Keith & Dwayne, who both had immaculate cars. We had to whip the hat around for donations to help Ken out with his speeding ticket he received while low flying from Launceston! PJ, left his hatch at home but brought the V8 Adventura which he displayed with the Tas Commodore Club. Lots of cars & people but it got a bit hot & dusty for me, so I left early to get back to the beer fridge in the shed! (Click on the pics to enlarge)
